Rails Railfanning and Gastronomy III

After a hearty dinner at Suvarna Mandira, which was recommended by @sridharjoshi sir, we made our way back to the railway station, after losing our way and thus had to enter the station via the tracks.

Here, we had a bit of Railfanning, spotting a few EMDs, including the bleed blue WDP 4 from KJM.

Our tickets had been upgraded to 3A(huzzah) and we went to the AC Waiting hall to rest a bit till our train, the Link to Madgaon. This train is a treat for enthusiasts but a nightmare for the station master at Londa due to the complex shunting movement that happens.

We made our way to Platform 5, where our train was stabled , with the Miraj portion led by a Pune WDP 4D, 40574 and piggybacking the train was KJM WDP 4D 40433

This is a unique train for the fact that it has no pairing train. It runs as Bangalore Hubli Slip(16589) attached to Rani Chennamma Express, then it idles at Hubli for the whole day and leaves at the late hours of the night with the Hubli Miraj Express to Londa and on to Vasco as Hubli Vasco Link attached to Goa Express with the train number 06948.And in the return, Goa Express hauls it from Vasco to Londa and at Londa, it is attached to the Rani Chennamma Express as 02779.

We reached Londa on time and were resigned to a long long wait, till the mother train from Delhi arrived.

At the stroke of 1am, as the train slept, Akshay and me awoke to see the shunting operation
A pair of twin beams penetrated the thick fog, it was the bi weekly from Yesvantpur that was overtaking us.
Meanwhile, our KJM WDP 4D had reversed from the rear and was attached to the front of the train for the shunting procedure.

After a complex and intriguing operation, which took no more than 20 konutes, we were off. I slept like a a log and woke up at the quaint town of Sanverdam.
I was in goa, something my classmates from School, Engineering and MBA will never believe.

It was a smooth run from here to Madgaon, where in another 120 minutes, the journey on board the Food King would begin.
