Part 1- Prologue

For us "madmen" in the eyes of the public, who love trains, the IRFCA Convention is akin to a pilgrimage. A pilgrimage for which we travel across the length and breadth of the nation, to converge upon that location which plays host to 150 odd men and women who are united by a common passion. The interest area may be many, but the deity that we adore is the same. A deity which has long been uniting Indians, be it from the hills of Assam to the deserts of Rajasthan, from the chilly snow capped peaks of Himalayas to the humid Triveni at the tip of the mainland, where the 3 seas meet.

Words like WDM 2, WAP 4, WDP 4D, Caution Order , Advance starter which is gobbledegook to the layman is the language which we speak.

And this year, the land of the Gaekwads, the home to multitudes of E locos, and of course, the cute and tiny narrow gauge ZDM locos, possibly counting their last days was to be our host for the annual IRFCA convention 2018. And what better place to have it than the National Academy of Indian Railways,
